The Yellow Gazette

Well, Fuzzy's story has certainly captured your imagination. We've had some great responses and we have taken some of your ideas to continue the story. Fuzzy is again tied up with Shakey, and if you want to hear more, read below...

This month we feature some interesting builds from the AW Reunion world that has over 180 builders working away. In the Building Tips page, we offer some more tips on scaling objects, and we begin a discussion on the dreaded lag, and what causes it. Little Nellie offers some exotic plants and some information on them; all are spectacular, but two of them you would not want in a floral arrangement in your living room. And we hear from Digigurl, the world caretaker, and what she thinks about Yellow.

An Interview with Digigurl

Digigurl has been an amazing caretaker for Yellow, and through her efforts we have had some good contests, and exceptionally good object, texture and AV yards. We wanted to interview her to get her opinions on a number of matters, and she has kindly offered replies. Thanks to the miracle of AW's VOIP, here's her responses.

(Ozman) So is this world named as Yellow now and not Yellowstone?

(Digigurl) The world was initially called Yellow when it was set up in 1995; it was never called Yellowstone. It had to do with the number of characters that a world name could be.

(Ozman) Have you a Contest planned for the near future? If so what type and when?

(Digigurl) I would like to do a "Going Green" contest in October. But we are also in the middle of the AW 15th anniversary celebrations, so timing is tight. For example there are about 120 people now in AWReunion building cabins for the reunion which will take place on 18 to 26 September, with plenty of events happening there. Then in November there are the CY awards, so we are sort of limited.

(Ozman) Do you have a 'wish list' for Yellow?

(Digigurl) Yes. I guess the main thing I would like to see is a thriving community of people, with a sense of community. It would be great to have people working together and having fun building. Then I would like to put in horseback riding, and fishing and a sort of RPG too. I would also like more terrain building areas.

(Ozman) What is your vision for the future of yellow?

(Digigurl)Well, the main thing is developing a sense of community. I mean there is already some of this happening, but it's still a bit scattered. It would be great to have a whole lot of people building together.

(Ozman) What AW technical innovations would you like to see?

(Digigurl) First, I would like to see the bugs taken out of the movers. And I would like to be able to have people make user-controlled movers that everyone could use, instead of just the owner. That sort of defeats the purpose. Then, I would like to see more life-like things, and in particular to improve interactivity. It's good so far, but we could do a whole lot more.

(Ozman) Do have any events for AW's 15th anniversary planned, if so what and when?

(Digigurl) As part of the AW Reunion, I want to do a Tour of Yellow, so people can see all the awesome builds that have been done here. So, I need people to send me their building coordinates so I can put them in the tour. The tour will be on September 25th, 8:00pm to 8:30pm VRT. So, please let me know the coordinates of your builds that you would like to show off.

(Ozman) What do you like best about being a caretaker?

(Digigurl) I love it. Before Yellow I was a joint caretaker for AWTeen, and also AWNewbie. And I took on Yellow to bring it up to date and to modernise it because it was seriously run down. I started working in Yellow in 2007, and it's developed well so far.

(Ozman) Is there anything you would like to add?

(Digigurl) I would like to thank everyone who keeps Yellow going. I cannot do this alone, and it's great that people like you and Apooka and all the rest of the people here are keeping the world growing and developing.

The Adventures of Theo Fuzzybottom
