On New Year's Eve at Byron Bay
A girl took our regrets away
To burn and end in Phoenix' fire
And vanish in a New Year's pyre.
And so a new year starts again
A fresh, blank page to fill - and then
We wonder at the lessons learned
And thank the gods that hope's returned.
From the ashes left behind
Let us work so we can find
A better way to live the year
To love and laugh and dispel fear.
